I watched about 5 seasons of Breaking Bad and wasn't too big of a fan so while we're kind of in opposite boats i get that feeling of going against the bandwagon.

I love Game of Thrones. The show us very good but the hype plays a important role. It's fun when you drink with your friends everytime when you see boobs or someone dies. I watched BB. I loved it, but GoT is still ongoing and you can talk with your mates theories or opinions about the newer episode.

PS: the latter seasons are a lot better than the first one.

If you've made it that far, you should give book 5 a go. That being said, sometimes the show just looks like assholes playing swords.

Not a big fan of the show and not a big fan of breaking bad either for that matter. I thought Jesse was a whiny pussy.

I'm just burned out on medieval fantasy stuff at this point. I played shit tons of Demon's/Dark Souls, The Elder Scrolls, really big into Lord of the Rings...I just can't take any more knights and dragons and castles shit.

It never caught with me because of that, if it was the same show but sci-fi instead I would probably like it.

I have yet to watch any of Game of Thrones and I really have no desire to. Now if you could make a GOT styled show about the World Wars, I'd watch every second.

Does Band of Brothers count?

I enjoy the books. I also enjoy beating the shit out of my dick to Emilia Clarke. Not a fan of the show itself though.

Yeah, I have read all the books and I think G.R.R.M is overrated as a writer, and the show is mediocre, but trendy hipster liberals love that shit.

I'm not. That show is pandering garbage. There's not one part of that show that interests me. And before you ask, I've watched the entire first season.

I have questions, because I am genuinely curious: 1. Have you read any of the books? 2. Who do you propose the television show is pandering to, how and why?

As a hardcore nerdy nerd of shame +5 I read the books before the show existed. I'm glad mainstream folks get to have a show based on stuff I liked, but the show does very little for me. I like some of the casting, especially for Joffrey, Tyrion, and Arya, but even at their best, they aren't as good as the books.

OFC, I also appreciate the eye candy, but not even Rose Leslie naked can make the show match up to the books.

It's boobs and gore, which is just pandering IMO. It appeals to the rebel nature people have towards the puritan roots the country has that creates the sex/nudity shaming. I hear more people talk about how good the sex is on the show more than any other aspect, the second most is the how anyone can die. The two biggest selling points of the show are sex and violence.
