They were some of the predecessors of trade unions. Trade unions are inferior in that:
Governments protect them from competition, so instead of being replaced when they become corrupt the corruption just builds up. Fraternal societies had to work to retain their membership and were easily replaceable by the communities they served if they became unfit for their stated purpose.
Fraternal societies were primarily organised along community and racial lines allowing for high-trust networks to be built. By contrast trade unions are organised primarily along kike political lines and mostly function as a bludgeon for them to control economies.
