Standard shower heads in the United States use 2.5 gallons of water per minute, so you'd use around 450-600 gallons (~1,700-2,300 liters) of water if you left the shower on that long. Why would you do that, though?

Thanks. I use the shower to drown out background noise (ambulance sirens, car alarms) when I am reading or watching videos on my ipad.

It depends on the shower head. Some use as little as 1.5 gallons per minute, while older ones can use as much as 5 or 6 gallons per minute. Not to mention, if it is HOT water, you are wasting a TON of natural gas, or electricity.

15 minutes is way too much! I take navy showers in about 2-3 minutes.

I am not actually in the shower, I just use it to drown out outside noise when I am reading. I live downtown and there are too many ambulance sirens, police sirens and car alarms for me to concentrate. I bring a chair into the bathroom and use the shower like a background noise machine.

Another method would be an air purifier. Not a "good" one though... Just one of those huge el cheepo ones from walmart.

Older shower heads can produce 5 gallons per minute or more of water. So probably around 1000 gallons.

Protip from California: Leave the bucket in the shower to catch "warming up" water. Then use it to water outside plants.

I feel like you already did run the shower full blast for three or four hours and want to know if you really screwed up...
