Indeed. Best of both worlds. Way less upgradeability, but I don't really have a lot of need for that anyway.
Though you do need extra kb+mouse because otherwise you have your laptop display on front of you instead of the big ass monitor.
But I have just a 17 inch laptop myself, trying to be somewhat minimalist. I haul my computer around a lot.

Self-felatio and a desktop PC, it really is the ideal scenario though.

Don't bother to read the article; it's just another advertisement being trotted out as journalism.
And they wonder why people don't believe journalists any more.

When I’m feeling creative or needing to focus, there’s no more perfect computer than a 27-inch iMac—complete with mouse, keyboard and widescreen—which now costs up to $2,000 for its pixel-melting Retina 5K model.
Yet I’m also impressed by the quality, and now even price, of stand-alone monitors that can transform any computer, even a laptop you already own, into your personal Mission Control. My advice: It’s time to think big.
No shit. :D

Short story: Buy a desktop, more power for $ given the ability to clearly share files across machines. Makes sense, but doesn't need a full article.

But don't buy an All-In-One computer if worried about money or power:
The power of a laptop.
Portability of a monitor.
Price of a desktop.
