If the ruling holds, then Snowden, despite violating signed confidentiality agreements, is also now a LEGITIMATE WHISTLE-BLOWER , and afforded a whole class of special protections for gov employee whistleblowers that expose government crimes.

The OP alludes to an important point that might mitigate his leaks.

If the ruling holds

You don't need a goddamned ruling to determine that something which was illegal and they knew it was illegal is suddenly illegal. The ruling means that they don't get an exemption.

They're not going to stop.

Since when do rulings matter for gov't agencies? It's all bullshit theatre. If this particular spying program is deemed illegal they'll just use one of the other hundreds they have going in parallel and recycle this one under a new name. Who takes this shit seriously? There's no rule of law for the government.

I don't think confidentiality agreements cover the commission of crime.

They do not.

Whistle blower status only allows him to tell people what's going on. It does not allow him to to commit a crime. Also, at the time, corrupt judges declared it legal. When he committed his crimes he knowingly did so.

Also, Snowden is guilty of spying and a host of additional crimes.

Let's not forget Snowden is a CIA agent who's job was to disclose methods and techniques to prevent the NSA from spying on deep state criminals like Hillary, Rothschilds, soros, Obama, and many, many others.

Snowden is still guilty of espionage though. So he is going to be in hiding until he is assassinated or arrested.

What is all of this past tense language about?

Is this an actual win? The program is ongoing.

It’s illegal, so if they do it again they’ll get a strongly worded letter from the DOJ. Possibly even a reprimand.
