I see 2 possible reasons.
1) It cuts out a lot of big pharm profit. The source comes from recovered covid patients...
2) It could expose the true extent of infection. If there turns out to not be a lot of plasma from "recovered" individuals available, then it will prove the infection is not wide spread as media is pushing.

Convalescent plasma is effective and has been used for over 100 years. It has the antibodies or antibody factors in it.
Anything that brings to light the concepts of blood replacement therapies will make the truth easier to understand.
It is hard to believe that people get off on raping children. It is too dark and alien.
But the fact that men will do extreme things, evil things to extend their lifespan - most people can believe that.
And a huge part of human trafficking is about viable organs, stem cells, youthful blood factors from blood plasma, and of course some of it is about sex and slavery. It's about power and immortality.

I thought when people wanted to benefit from younger blood they used whole blood. I remember in California some guy set up a business.

Yes and no. However the practices are many. For operations (such as organ transplants) you need plasma. And for some aspects of aging and disease the youthful plasma is very helpful. Also stem cells. When they use whole blood they need very good matches and better screening for weird pathogens than their black market hospitals may have the ability to identify. It also stores longer.
