So zoom means live video of each other? You'll get caught if you bust out laughing at her bullshit?

For the love of god you have to record these sessions and post them to catbox.

I'll see what I can get. She said she is recording them herself to post for people who couldn't make it.

Debating whether it’s even worth my time to stay in it now. I could drop the class or I could fight the system and risk a bad grade.

Are there topics on each paper, or are you free to select one?

I say stay for the first paper to be written, especially if it is your choice.

I have the perfect topic and refs.

Give out the zoom link to someone, and have them zoom bomb the proceedings. It could be as simple as using only audio, with a screeching sound, for example.

You should drop that class or learn to suck her dick. you have a decision to make EnragedShitlord. The chances of you passing that class and not saying the line so to speak are the same as a snowball in hell.

if you keep the class (stay the course?), just call her out every time she invokes critical theory.

In other words, whenever she explains a complicated relationship as oppressor vs oppressed, remind her that not everything is us vs them and ask if there is any other ways the relationship can be described. Ask her to quantify the oppression - like, the lesson may be about poll taxes or whatever, ask "how many people faced a poll tax, really?"

Most Marxist thought is nonsense and if you start asking questions, you can identify at which point that nonsense becomesanifest.

George Floyd thing is an excellent example because a tiny amount of unarmed people die at the hands of police, but the Marxists will focus on just black people. They will also conveniently leave out the number of peaceful police interactions and will never ever mention how many police are killed each year in the line of duty, de-emphasizing the dangerousness of the job.

There are like 4 rules they use: show something fake, remove something true, misrepresent something true, add something irrelevant.

Karl Marx was indeed a great sociologist - but he would say he was a historian and economist. One third of the modern school of sociology is based on works that follow his methods. Consider, if you will, that more than 1/2 of the entire planet Earth has attempted to put his teachings into practice and all attempts have met with failure, in many cases catastrophic failure. I highly recommend that you read his works directly, if for no other reason than to know the mind of your enemies.

Marx's approach to science is very seductive, precisely because it is so very informative. It is all too easy to fall into the trap of thinking that it is the final word when everything seems to make so much sense. Unfortunately, for Marx, and half of the world, he is wrong on many of the most critical findings. Meanwhile, while his work is very useful in tracking human behaviors and the various social problems that emerge from that, marxist based solutions to those problems have inevitably met with failure every time.

Simply put, understanding a problem doesn't mean you understand the solution to that problem.

I can tell from your words above they are not going to be teaching sociology. This class is pure Communist brainwashing.

What I can tell you is this, since you are not a professor, anything you might say on the actual validity of these teachings will be discounted outright. If you challenge the system directly you will lose, for it is designed to weed you out. If you wish to stay you must play along and be as covert as possible about it. They must see you brainwashed. That means you need to learn it so you can spew it back out on the exam.

Is it worth it? The degree itself is useful, if for no other reason than the many career doors that open which you cannot otherwise access without a degree. The training at this stage is still introductory in nature. They are building the conceptual tools which will be used to conduct more advanced works later on. Should you go on to the Masters and PhD levels you will then once again be asked to begin thinking for yourself, accumulating your own data, and publishing your own findings. The bullshit only gets radically worse at that stage.

Understand that very few students actually proceed to those levels. Most who survive will get a degree, or a master's degree, and depart for a career away from the school. The ones who stay and go on to perpetuate the system as the next generation of teachers are themselves trapped within their own sheltered bubble Potemkin reality away from the real world, to the point that they really have no understanding of it.

These are the people who are teaching you now. Calling them out on it will only incur their wrath.
