They did get bailed out, and they are getting money. But to contribute to airlines not crying, fuel prices are the lowest they have been in 15 years. Obama drove the cost of jet fuel, and other fuels, through the roof with his green energy bullshit. It only sort of started recovering under Trump, and after the virus fuel prices crashed.

Airlines have always been somewhat subsidized though, sometimes more than others. But they're in pretty good shape in the CCP Virus era because fuel is so cheap.

Yeah, the governments support them. Most major airlines are quasi government offshoots anyways, considered strategic national economic assets. They always get some kind of government bailout. Similar to railways in that respect.

If individual airlines go under, the assets will be consolidated under at least one remaining airline per nation, to be supported. It's not like government is willing to lose the tech or the infrastructure.

The few that are operating are demanding you wear a muzzle, as are the airports. So they won't get any business from me.

well for one they have money in the bank. second they fired or furloughed a bunch of staff. Third, they still do make some money, and fourth, the airports themselves are almost certainly giving concessions to the airlines and hoping to compensate with the resturaunt income.

having said that airlines were barely sustainable before all of this and its only a matter of time

I've personally been seeing more private plane activity in my area.

Now they get money for nothing. It’s called bailout. And comes out of our pockets. Don’t worry if we do stop shanagins that is corona hoax, they will be sure to cut the legroom for economy passengers some more. To stuff more in there.
