Repeatedly smacking you in the head with something heavy, but not very rigid. Like an old phone book.
edited to add: You can also hold the phone book against their head, and then hit them with a club or a bat.

Blunt force trauma.
Doesn't take very much force to damage the skull or brain, and unless you're hitting the face or breaking skin, it's probably not going to leave any visible marks either.
Look up the "breaking wheel", a medieval torture/execution method, for context. You can break nearly every bone in someone's body without ever breaking the skin.
