And nobody called 911 the time my girlfriend was raped and killed with a knife when we went to New York together.

Dude, what?

People from New Jersey for some reason think it's a good thing that they don't know how to pump their own gasoline.

People from California are stuck up and self absorbed, people from Washington state are hipsters. New Yorkers are rude. People in west Virginia have no teeth and sleep with their cousins!

** I should probably note that I have been to all these places and these stereotypes for the most part aren't true :-p

As someone from California (born and raised in LA to be specific), all I can say is most of the stuck up assholes here are from other parts of the world who move here for various reasons. California is the melting pot that represents many cultures of the world, and to say California is full of people who are stuck up and self absorbed is pretty much saying everyone from everywhere is stuck up and self absorbed.

the thing about new yorkers is that 90% of them are not from new york.

True, but living in N.Y. for any meaningful length of time, will likely make you ruder than you were. It's partly the dilution of responsibility that comes with overpopulation, but it's also just a hard, cold, trash-filled city.

Yeah, a lot of New Yorkers are living in California, and they're assholes.

Exactly. I had a roommate from upstate new York and was sweet as can be. Even when I was in New York City I would classify most people as more assertive but not necessarily rude.

The Washington one is partially true. Most "hipsters" are just acting like normal Washingtonians, which is apparently hipster now. Also the beards, that was Washingtonian from the start.

People in the south are more willing to start a conversation with a stranger, people in rural areas can be pretty dangerous and also some of the nicest you could meet depending on how you meet (broken down car vs. randomly on their private property), and people in the cities will just watch fucked up shit happen without batting an eye.

:( I don't wear denim, but I love small talk (it's one of our rules here in the south)

Also an american that hates small talk! Why do people think I care about what they ate for lunch? I don't and I never will! :-p Apparently that makes me rude.
