Ain't karma a bitch

Good thing we don't call it Karma here. Phew

Threads are littered with puns and dad jokes. Someone will make a serious comment and right below it the puns start.
I have thought about starting a thread here to the effect "puns should be deleted by mods". So often I will click on 'comments' for an explanation and won't find one. When I do find one it's as if no one can intelligently comment on it.

Good thing those kinds of repositories are primarily used by super-nerds that can easily figure out how to run a server in a VM, even if the server uses Linux and doesn't have an easy install package. They (meaning the SJWs) can have their "safe space" to oppress and run off certain minorities and the disabled under the guise of inclusion, everyone else can have a robust network of private and public code repositories. Just my desktop computer can host more than a thousand concurrent users on GitLab. It won't be difficult for people to set up repos for internal use, for open source projects, what have you. Give it a little bit of decentralization and you can watch everyone start to adopt new practices to easily locate projects of interest off a search engine.

Well hopefully they will be too busy with reddit to harass Slashdot any longr.

how can it be that whenever someone or some group decides to take something down, it goes down? is it so easy to get a website down? are there other tools than DDOS?
[–] shirtlords 0 points 2 points 2 points (+2|-0) ago
Well, reddit should be hard to takedown, as they are no doubt using ddos protection from one of the big vendors.
But these are hackers we are talking about, so... sql injection maybe? Who the hell knows.

Reddit as a company has never spent much time innovating technologically. Any other top-100 websites go down several times every week due to being overloaded? Their answer to too many users is to throw more hardware at it.

They banned a sub full of hackers... During DefCon. All those hackers are currently discussing zero day exploits and every sort of black hat security research you can think of. Now reddit done went and pissed them off at the peak of their hacker frenzy.

Is it already that time again where DefCon is around? Jeez time flies.

As this drama progresses I can't help but think Reddit simply looking for a way to commit suicide.
[–] HAPPYBEN 0 points 24 points 24 points (+24|-0) ago
That's what I'm thinking too. No one could continually fuck up this bad on accident.

Maybe they're just trying to drive away reddit's old guard, and keep the SRS infestation somehow? You know, evacuate the crew, and burn the ship with the rats still on it?

Trigger them enough, they'll get PTSD and an avoidance complex for the comments. No one forces them to go on uncensored internet comments.
