I hear Asians wear masks quite often, not sure whatever he's testing for is relevant as I doubt they would be wearing masks all the time if it also meant they constantly felt bad.

Reminds me of someone telling me we're like 99.5% similar to Africans or/and more similar to an African than I am my non-African neighbour.

Clearly the similarity isn't relevant. When I was younger I heard we're around 98%? similar to bananas too, but we're not bananas. Not relevant.

This shit again! Seriously you jackasses.

Do you know that O2 drops below osha whatever bullshit level after you ABOVE SEA LEVEL and that masks volume is a small % of your lung capacity.

Idiots.

Funny how surgeons, anesthetists and theatre nurses don't have "headaches" from wearing surgical masks all day, and often longer.

They only wear them for 1 or 2 hours, and not to keep bacteria out of their faces, but to keep from spreading infectious bacteria to the patient!

LOL, so you think in a 12 hour operation the surgeon and assistants, anesthetist and anesthetic nurse, scrub nurse and unscrubbed nurses all unscrub and leave theatre each 1-2 hours, leaving the patient to themselves, in order to change their face masks ??? You CLEARLY have ZERO idea what you are talking about!

Btw, Covid-19 is a virus.

And the stress of breathing through a mask lowers their sp02 enough to measure even in a single hour.

Its not the O2 its the dissolved CO2 buildup in the bloodstream

So the OSHA rule is incorrect?

Low O2 is arguably more dangerous. High CO2 levels makes you feel like you're drowning. People under those conditions get panicky and desperate and do whatever they can to find a low CO2 environment, which is exactly what they should be doing. Generally speaking under natural conditions, high CO2 happens concurrently with low O2, so we never evolved a detection mechanism for both.

Low O2 levels make people feel drunk and euphoric, then they gradually fall asleep and (unless O2 is restored) their brain slowly dies until they pass beyond recovery. It can happen due to high CO saturating their red blood cells and making them unable to absorb enough O2, low air pressure or another gas displacing the O2.

I know a guy who almost died because of it, there was a gas leak on his boat and he woke up feeling groggy and confused. He almost rolled over and went back to sleep (in which case he would be dead) but something told him he had to get up right that fucking instant, so he got out of bed and dragged his friend up on deck until they recovered enough to ventilate the boat and get the leaky gas canister outside.

There was also an incident on a cypriot flight where the pilots hadn't switched some control to pressurize the cabin. As soon as they climbed to altitude everyone passed out. One of the flight attendants was a diver and a trainee pilot, he managed to regain consciousness because of his elevated red blood cell count but he didn't know how to work the radio and couldn't communicate with air traffic control. He tried to reduce altitude and revive the pilots but ended up crashing into a mountain.

I have to wear a mask for work, but I wear it on the tip of my nose. This leaves the top open hot air can get out.

Blow your car heater on your face before your day starts, get free time off instead of wearing a rona burka.

This is daft. You want to measure, measure your blood oxygen. That's what counts.

So the OSHA standard is based on blood O2, and not the O2 that is available to breathe?

The OSHA standard is based on environmental conditions. Has nothing to do with dissolved O2 in your blood. For instance you need to go down into a manhole or other confined space, you need to have a meter with you to make sure O2 levels aren't too low. Gasses could drop down and displace the O2. Measuring inside the mask isn't really the same thing. I work in construction and the safety guy at our company is hardcore so we go through training on this stuff all the time.

The INSIDE of your mask is not what you measure. You want to measure the air outside it.

You want to know if it's affecting you? Measure your blood.

FINK about it. You cannot claim the mask is somehow killing you if your blood oxygen level is fine.

No, I had the same thought. My job is making it mandatory for mask use & after going up some stairs I noticed I was winded. I have access to an impact pro & will try this too. While blood oxygen will give definite result of how much oxygen your body is absorbing this test is no different than measuring a suspected hazardous environment on the job.

If I wish to enter a room, at work, with less than 19.5 I have to be in SCBA.
