If anything, I would say the centuries of agriculture creating better and safer food stuffs for us shows how good we are at manipulating genetics and how over blown the fears surrounding it.
It's like the lack of understanding of physics which people possess due to seeing movies (i.e exploding cards, sound in space).

I disagree. we aren't talking cross pollination or speeding up nature in some way. We are talking about genetic modification of plants. We have no idea of the long term consequences. Not to mention the fact that while fruit may be larger and last longer it's also filled with more sugar, which is fucking horrible for you. In addition to that you have chemicals that get sprayed all over food and it causes ailments. I think we fucked up big time because we took away the ability for seeds to grow from a lot of these foods. I have heirloom organic seeds I am using for my garden and if I let a tomato fall to the ground the seeds will grow. I think instead of trying to chest nature we should have used it to help grow what we consume. For example basil is an easily grown herb that keeps a shitload of other bugs away. It could be planted near other plants that insects desire. Instead of doing things in a way that mother nature does it we went against mother nature and now we're fucked

There’s a difference between cross breeding strains and taking a fucking genetic box cutter to DNA and inserting sequences like you actually wrote the code or could predict the outcome.
