Depends on the age of the kids I guess. I love to tickle my kids until they almost pee themselves. I also like to read them books. My daughter is 3 and son is about to be born so maybe I shouldn't have said kids lol just one kid so far.

Blanket tents! I used to wedge blankets between the mattress and then anchor the other side to the dresser, using sheets draped over to cover the sides.

It's like camping to the kids, but indoors. Get out some sleeping bags (or make a bed out of blankets), get out the flashlights, and tell silly scary stories (Google em!)

Bonus of you have a bunk bed!

Make them study and do their homework, assign extra homework yourself. Show them how to kill local wildlife and maintain gun safety.

Board games, movie night, co-op video games. If you like to fish, it's a ton of fun going out in the rain or flooding the yard and catching night crawlers to use for your next trip. There's also cards and Would You Rather.

Simple cheap entertainment. Bubbles - bubble games, bubble within bubbles, make own solution, super bubbles, bubble art, freeze bubble, etc.

Origami or Another origami source - paper craft, patterned scissors, Yamaha papercraft

board games or making your own DIY board games

if you have place for a sand pit - nothing like it! - sand castles, inflatable water tubs on top of it.

Theme based toys - activity hours - jungle, city, prehistoric/ jurassic - toys, puppets according to it and get into some role playing games.

story time in between activities.

Make sandwich and other simple foods along with kids, even if its messy. allow them to experiment and play with food. create shapes and use naturally colored healthy foods like carrots slices for sun, broccoli and lettuce for the jungle, etc. make scenery. plenty of action here!

These are some of the things that popped in my head now. I'm pretty sure there are a zillion things you can do :) good luck!

I'm assuming you mean this as something to do when you're looking to have an adult night but can't get a sitter? Usually, we invite some friends over who also have kids and then send the kids off to play. Usually, we'll just sit around and talk and play cards (if you've never played euchre I highly recommend it).

This is exactly what I meant. We live far away from family and have not found a reliable sitter. We are often stuck at home after 7 with nothing to do...

Ha, oddly enough we actually just wrapped up having some friends over to hang out. It depends on if you have friends with kids but I'd definitely recommend just having people over or going to their house. It took our kids a little while to get comfortable falling asleep somewhere else but now they enjoy the sleepover aspect. Just make it work for your schedule. Having kids makes that part of life difficult to plan but having that social time is really important.
