2020-06-25 | Countdown to ditch outdated language for straight talk on period products | Stuff.co.nz

'Countdown supermarkets are ditching terms like “feminine hygiene” and “personal care” products in favour of calling tampons, pads and menstrual cups what they are: period products. ', "From now on they'll be labelled period products, says spokeswoman Kiri Hannifin."

'Sanitary items and feminine hygiene products are a thing of the past at Countdown supermarkets. '

'Intimate hygiene products would now just be called genital washes and wipes. '

'Hannifin said Countdown was the first supermarket globally to change period product terminology. '

“Words like ‘personal hygiene’ and ‘sanitary products’ give the impression that periods – which are an entirely natural part of life – are somehow something to hide to yourself, or that they’re unhygienic. They absolutely aren’t, and we can play an important role in helping change that.

Good news everyone, they told blood to no longer be a vector for disease!

Of course! I mean, clotting, dead blood cells are perfectly safe and sanitary! Just leave the stuff anywhere. Countertops, floors, toilet seats - NO ONE WILL MIND AT ALL!!!

I mean, really, why even buy the "period products", just freebleed.

I also think it's funny that they're so proud they're not using euphemisms anymore, but they're really just using a different euphemism.
