School. Mommy and daddy probably only taught them to use the toilet and wipe their asses. And even that is debatable as both parents had to work.

I guess if your mommy and daddy don't teach you, that's it for you.

I mean that's traditionally how knowledge is passed on.

Those plants will be dead in a week once their roots can't get anymore nutrients. I'm sure at some point, one of them will have the bright idea of pissing on everything because muh nitrogens.

This is pitiful. Really, really pitiful. Just when you thought they couldn't be anymore pitiful, they bring new levels of pitiful.

All that is going to grow is weeds. All their plantings will be dead in less than a week.

To be fair it's not like anyone expects them to last a week

This is a well funded communist insurgency.

In a week there will be three more of these "autonomous zones".

They'll get bored and hungry then forget about this cringy little LARP. It's like kindergarten, except the children are much larger, here.

Also garden store plants are GMO so they can't seed save either.

Where did this rumor come from? My tomatoes this year are third generation seedlings from a gardening store, my onions are stalks regrown from onions purchased at the grocery store, I a random one off garlic bulb from the grocery store planted because it sprouted leaves on my shelf and something ate my radishes in one corner. It's like the gardening stores themselves started this rumor; "Don't even try to get your stuff from anyone but us" kind of thing.

EDIT: When I get home today, I'm going to chuck half a bag of potatoes in the ground just to spite this mindset.

Where did this rumor come from?

Part of it is the fair assumption that nobody would sell something that can reproduce itself without some sort of copy protection, and part of it is likely as you suggested about it being to increase sales. The thing that is confusing to me is how such a rumor would continue to be believed by those who have gardened for even a couple years. Often times it doesn't even take effort to disprove, I've grown a few tomato plants on accident just from overripe fruit that fell, and my green onions are grown from a couple plants that got too old to eat the stalks of that I let go to seed.

GMO crops are deliberately engineered to be sterile, that's not a falsity. Farmers that use GMO crops have to buy new seeds from producers every planting season. If those plants you got from the gardening store seeded, then they weren't GMO.

I am 100% against GMOs and this is false. This rumor is because of one single type of gene they added to corn called the suicide gene. Just because something is GMO doesn't mean it's sterile.

What you are saying is false.

Genetic use restriction technology, AKA terminator seeds, is not GMO-wide. It's mainly used on seeds for farmers because they are the largest buyers. The plants in the store tend to come from companies that have their own seed stock. From plants that they propagate themselves. Which means that their seeds need to be viable each and every generation. People who buy started plants don't tend to be people who harvest seeds so there is no economical reason to use terminator style plants.
