My home inspector lied to me pretty blatantly, it's a scam.

We had a house fire and the damage was ~$60,000 which insurance paid. I figured out over the course of home ownership I had paid out about $60,000 in insurance money. I certainly did not hit a jackpot - but I would not have had $60,000 just laying around to cover the expenses either.

If you had put that money aside, instead, you'd probably have had more.

Not that its relevant.

Cars as a social status symbol is a scam. One little scratch shouldn't matter to you unless you are hoping to keep the car in mint condition for 30 years to have as a collectors item.

This irrational market forces new models, and so parts change. If you want to fix a 1998 corolla then it is dirt cheap. That car also got 38mpg. why can't I just buy that car? The demand is there, maybe not for $15k, but for people like me looking for cheap cars that run forever and have parts available.

It's funny how anytime you work for a megacorp or the government, they require you to reject all forms of insurance.

I worked at one of the top Buick GMC dealers in the country. If it was a slow service week all of a sudden every car and truck coming in still under warrantee needed new brakes and rotors. I'd see a pile of like new rotors waiting for the recycler to come get them.

You just now figured that out?

Who in their right mind would go to a car dealership and pay now for a car they "might" buy in the future?

Does anybody go to the grocery store and pay now for groceries they "might" purchase in the future?

Well, that's what everyone is doing with "insurance", paying now for something that "might" happen, and if nothing bad happens, do you get that money back? Fuck no, you just get to pay for the following 6 mos. and all that money went where? Even if something does happen, suddenly you've got the "wrong coverage" or some other bullshit excuse.

So what, EXACTLY, did you pay for?

Why do you think they have to FORCE people to have insurance by law?

Fuck home inspectors. Mine found nothing said great place. A week into living there I start noticing tons of shit. And I'm just a regular guy (not in a fiber way).

How else are vehicle leasing companies going to recoup losses on totaled beanmobiles?

Looks like we found Mr. Bran Muffin who can't handle the spicy guacamole toast.
