The Surgisphere website seems fake/manufactured in the history of work section (see ARCHIVES at the very bottom of the page), because:
* Prior to March 2020, one story is published each month on the 15th (except for 08/15/2020).
* There are zero comments.
* The same flowchart is used on each page.
* The images are generic: data, stock photos, or country flags only.
* The locations of work are generic only, e.g. a large hospital.
* The content of the articles has jargon and a low word count.

The related bizarre event is that this group also published a paper on Ivermectin as treatment for COVID-19 (another repurposed drug being used in India and other places). It has been withdrawn, actually removed from the internet. Strange.
doi of the study is 10.2139/ssrn.3570270

Correct. That was when my tentacles went up and thought I should have a dig into the data.

Per the Lancet study webpage, under Methods, Registry features and data acquisition, the 'registry' comprised data from 671 hospitals located in six continents (for the infamous 96,032 patients). This data ('registry analysis') is de-identified and nonsensically titled, 'The Surgical Outcomes Collaborative', which, nonsensically, is only Surgisphere Corporation, Chicago, IL, USA.
Surgisphere, with the very odd Internet presence noted in this thread.
