Wrong. The vapid consumers who watch the videos are a step below cat collectors who smell like cat urine and shit.

I'm torn on this issue. A few unboxing videos have let me validate I didn't buy a Chinese knock-off optic from Amazon.

Would that purpose have not been better served by a damn review of the product itself?

I don't care how it's packaged. I care about, "the rear lens of this fell off from recoil the first time I took it out"

Or "I'm going to shoot this with birdshot, then put it in a bucket of water and freeze it"

Also, what Chinese optic? I got me a Holosun and I can't find a bad review yet....

Reviews are bought and paid for.

Think of it this way; if you had a popular unboxing channel companies would be willing to send you shit for free.

Some people want to watch unboxing videos therefore there's clearly a market for it. People get free shit, companies get cheap advertising and the consumers get an idea of what the product is.

Is the formula milked? Yes. But have I ever used an unboxing video to help deciding on buying something? Yes.

I don't think you get it. I'm using an unboxing from a trusted source to verify the optic I got wasn't a knock-off. There are some damn good Eotech, RMR, and ACOG clones these days.

Yeah it's important to research products before buying now a days. I'm a value junkie. I love nothing more than a solid, functional tool and evaluating the different options for the best deal is a joy. People who live through unboxing videos for the dopamine rush of new product.jpeg are gay

oh... don't you like watching the exaggerated expressions of a cocksucking kike with a dildo up the arse reacting to hollywood bullshit?

No way dude. Some of those have saved me some money. The people who make "reaction" videos need to be fed to sharks.

The people who make reactions to reaction videos are probably more tasty.

How does a video of packaging save you money?

I make a lot of big purchases for work. I love these videos. I want to know what to expect with a product I'm about to have to open hundreds of times.

I watched one once when I had a missing part on a product I ordered. Turns out it was just a part of another thingy that I didn't understand. I was a lazy faggot and didn't read the directions. Beyond that... Fake and gay.

I watched one before deciding to order my headset. It was useful to see what's included in the box, and what to expect.

Which peripheral item in the box clinched the decision for you, and why was that more important than the functionality of the damn item you bought?

Had already checked some reviews on the models I was considering. I wasn't specifically looking for an 'unboxing' video, but if you're wondering about the experience you're going to have if you order that product, the unboxing video is the spoiler you're looking for.

You can see a static image of the HyperX Cloud II on their site, but there's far more information in a video showing you exactly what to expect if you order that product. The packaging is not shoddy, and it's all neatly arranged in a solid and attractive box that's protected by a removable outer shell.

The site contains a lot of information about the headset models, but there is no image or information about the packaging itself. Ever bought a product where the packaging made you wonder if you'd made a mistake, and left you questioning whether the company had cheaped out on the product too? That's the only unboxing video I recall watching, but I think it tipped me toward the HyperX line over the other options.

The headset is pretty functional too.

They're useful to see what's in the box and how well it is packaged, which is helpful for motherboard purchases and other large buys such as VR kits. But that's all that I want to see, I don't want some mug's face nattering on about random bullshit for five minutes, I just want the unboxing.

If you want to see some good tool reviews though, look up BOLTR (bored of lame tool reviews) on Youtube. They're done by a guy named AvE, and he goes to the extent of dismantling the tool and looking into and talking about the build quality of the tool, including the little things that only an experienced enginerd would pick up on.

That sounds much more useful than showing me the laptop is wrapped in squishy plastic inside the box in the box.
