Maybe. But this is decentralized. Anyone in their own AirShip can move to any jurisdiction that is preferable for the occupants. Seasteading was on retired oil platforms, right? That's not in international water, and local government will eventually meddle.

So where do you get all that fuel to keep the ships afloat?
That's the beauty: It's all electric. The lifting gas is hydrogen: made onboard by electrolysis, with water collected by the craft itself. The entire top is a massive lightweight solar panel, and all of the systems are electrical. At the bottom of the craft will be a large hybrid battery/capacitor array, and also an onboard water storage tank for ballast/hydrogen production/drinking water/showering. Also on the bottom will be gray water and brown water tanks. Great question. Keep 'em coming!

You'd still need to trade for replacement parts. Also sounds like a pretty expensive initial investment.
And where would you fly those things? I'd imagine that most countries would be upset about an invasion of their air space. Out in the ocean somewhere? What about storms?

Yeah, forget Mars or the Moon, just live in the sky man, it's the future man.
[–] MaFishTacosDaBombBro 0 points 1 point 1 point (+1|-0) ago
I'm not sure that's possible, unless a rocket were used. Weather balloons can go pretty high, but there is a limit and propellers work less and less the higher you go due to the atmosphere dwindling.

Mighty ambitious.
Being non proprietary worth a few bucks for any possible advancement in tech even for those with nothing else to offer.

So I guess communism is a go?
[–] rhy [S] 0 points 1 point 1 point (+1|-0) ago
Not at all. This is extreme libertarian lifestyle. YOU own your own housing, electrical production, and clean water. It's the opposite of communism.
[–] Circular_Reasoning 0 points 1 point 1 point (+1|-0) ago
If it were successful you could use the open source plans to get your own personal airship built.
[–] rhy [S] 0 points 1 point 1 point (+1|-0) ago
EXACTLY! That's the main goal. That and to further 3d printing technology to make that a lot easier to do.

Yeah I lost all interest with that. Of course they want yet another blockchain too. Because that solves all problems.
Gees, read this crap: https://openairships.weebly.com/plan.html

The blockchain will be necessary to secure location data and 3d mapping while still giving everyone anonymity, privacy, and control of their own data. It's not just another blockchain for no reason. Did you read the white paper?
