Psilocybin mushrooms helped me when I had lost my way, OP. Maybe they can help you too.

Set goals. Be happy today. Write down lists of everything.

“…tomorrow and plans for tomorrow can have no significance at all unless you are in full contact with the reality of the present, since it is in the present and only in the present that you live.” – Alan Watts

My philosophy: Do whatever makes you happy without harming others.

And if what I do is not profitable? Or I don't know what makes me happy? Or what makes me happy is bad for me?

I don't mean to shit on your philosophy, but it may not be for me. Thank you for giving your input though.

I guess I may not be understanding how your philosophy would coincide with the basic necessities. I have to live somewhere for example. How do I decide that when I have no connection to any specific place and figuring out the pros/cons of moving to any specific place is something I don't know how to do and probably wouldn't have the time to figure out before having to move?

Things like that. Replace where to live with what job and it doesn't change much.

And if what I do is not profitable? If making money makes you happy then do something that makes money

Or I don't know what makes me happy? I would prioritize the search

Or what makes me happy is bad for me? A hedonist wouldn't mind.

Everyone says do what you love but the problem with that is most people love things that aren't very profitable. Also if you have to do what you "love" every day you might grow to hate it and you just ruined your hobby. I think it is most important to do something that you feel is meaningful. Even if at times it is boring or difficult, if you at least feel like you are contributing something it then it is easier to get out of bed in the morning.

Take your skill set and financial needs into account also, and try to find where these elements intersect with what you consider meaningful and aim in that direction.

This is true.

I suppose I don't know what I might find meaningful. Knowing the state of the world makes a lot of actions feel pointless. Even if I hope they aren't.

Thank you.

I'd try not to think too hard about the state of the world. If you help a few people, or make a change in your area, that is progress regardless of what is going on in the world at large. Or maybe you go work for a company purely to make money, but then put some of that money into a project that you care about. Big picture thinking can be useful but it can also be paralyzing.

Is this a good place to start? http://personaltao.com/teachings/taoism/taoism-101/

"Taoism teaches a person to live to their heart."

My heart is silent. Kinda always has been. I'm basically completely out of touch with what is going inside myself emotionally. I've never understood it and looking at other people, I can only imagine that they are different.

"Taoism teaches a person to flow with life."

Basically what I've done up until now. Taken the opportunities offered to me as they are presented based on what I want and want to be. My problem is that I don't see any more opportunities. Or rather, I see too many.

Choice Paralysis, I guess. I can do anything with my life and I don't know what I would possibly want. So, I suppose I do nothing?

But nothing isn't good enough for me atm. It's like wanting something but not knowing what you want. It's so frustrating.

Do you have anything in particular you love doing?

IT work. I like computers and am pretty good at trouble shooting them. I've considered doing this as a job, but there's a lot of issues that get in my way with that. I am basically a child in a man's body socially. I look at other people and don't understand what it means to be human, I guess? I don't know how to talk to people IRL. This makes having a regular job fairly difficult not to mention getting one.

I imagine that people feel comfortable with who they are and how they work internally. I don't know what that feels like.

I don't know where to live, or what you'd even consider to decide that.

You could say I don't even have a game plan, to get a game plan for my life. If I'm rambling, I'm sorry. I'm struggling with this.

Can you code well? Can you do website design? Can you do mobile IT work? If so, I suggest freelancing and traveling. Go to foreign countries; break out of your shell. Only take a laptop and other basic necessities. This is, admittedly, an extreme change, but I think it will mature and strengthen you immensely. You'll probably enjoy it as well.

I know how that feels. I was never that good in social situation and bullying didn't help. I really had no idea what to do with my life when choosing a career. I ended up becoming a nurse. This profession has taught me how to be a bit more social out of necessity. It is a skill you can practice. Once you start recognizing some patterns it becomes easier.

You should pursue your interest in IT. Don't be afraid of the challenges you're going to face. Depending on what job you're going to apply to, you might not even have that much contact with other people in your work. It all depends on your choices and the chances you take.

develop some social skills, talk to people on voat. Be open, but not too open. I assume you're male, so just give them a friendly hello ask what the problem is and get to work once you have the details sorted. you're YOU, get'er done.

The best way to get over social anxiety is to get a job where you talk to people like a cashier or something on the phone if you want to start off small. Although most people are nicer in person than on the phone.
