7.62 Brute force and ignorance.

Bullpups are gay and effeminate plastic crap that you would not dare hit someone with.

Get in a nasty fight. Would you rather hit someone in the face with a bullpup or an AK?

I've probably done it wrong if that's my option.

AK for sure. I love the AK platform, it's my favorite. I just thought this was an interesting video. My only experience with bullpups is handling old beat-up POS FAMAS'es when I worked in Chad and Sudan. It was an interesting weapon for sure and my only idea of it came from playing Metal Gear: Solid as a kid, but my experience with the FAMAS'es I handled were they were prone to jams.

Why? Because they fill a niche. If you need your tools to do a certain job, then you get the tool that does the job the most efficiently. Bullpups are great for being compact without giving up anything- except for balance, trigger quality, ergonomics, and lastly (if using a suppressor) quietness. I've fired several and owned a couple of bullpups, and my Walther G22 was LOUD when I put the .22 can on it; the ejection port was right there by your face and ear. I also didn't like that the P22 magazines were not compatible with the G22; only the magazine body, you have to swap out the base pads. They also needed more than 10 round magazines, and at the time there were nothing else available. The magazines were awfully hard to swap out easily, and combined with the low round count made me sell the G22. It just wasn't as fun as it could have been. If I could have put a good bipod on top of the front handguard (a la FAMAS), and have a 20 to 30 round magazine or drum, I could have put up with the crack in the face and sound in my ear, and not so good of a trigger.

The best bullpup I fired was the FN PS-90- the casings ejected directly downward, the optics (a lot of people hated the stock FN dot sight) was great for shooting where I shoot, the magazine capacity is wonderful, but the trigger was awful. The reason I sold the PS-90 was FN and their idiotic policy of not selling spare parts. The trigger pack makes up the rear of the weapon, and the front of the trigger pack is the back of the cartridge ejection port. The casings bounce off the front of the trigger pack, and then straight down. No big deal, until you have a few thousand rounds through the gun and the front of the trigger pack looks like somebody took a ball peen hammer to it. I'm sure it would hold up fine, but I wanted another trigger pack housing so I could swap it out if it ever got too bad. FN had another idea- they said if it breaks, ship it back to them and they would fix it, for a price. No effing way. I'm American, and I will do it myself; it's an easy job to swap out trigger packs, as a matter of fact it's one of the things you need to do every so often with a thorough cleaning. Nope says FN, you must send the weapon back to us. Forget that. I sold the PS-90.

So, it's not that I don't like bullpups, I'd love to try Kel Tec's survival rifle. I like the look and love the idea of a really light, short rifle that uses standard AR-15 magazines. It looks almost as easy to store and transport as a large pistol, but the conveniences of a long gun.
