My girlfriend had to drag me out of there because I was stark raving mad at the bullshit I saw inside. I had a few martinis on the rooftop and started ranting about what horse shit the whole place was.

The article references the Tour Montparnasse which is a building that ruins Paris's sky line. It was designed by Walter Gropius one of the "fathers of modern architecture", a crypto who married into a Jewish family. But you want to know the funniest thing about his wikipedia page: "Gropius could not draw"

(((They))) are nothing more than graffiti artists who ruin our society.

LaGuardia airport in NYC is not too bad as airports go, since it was designed as art deco.

Hell, the original water company building in my town is beautiful and inspiring, then for reasons I cannot comprehend, they moved out of it and into a typical modernist cube office building.

What do you think of Mid century modern, that was based on space exploration?

I wouldn't be able to recognize it. Nothing past art deco is my thing.

Look up Mid century modern buildings. They where built by people who thought they were going to witness sace travel.

But reductionist to paint all contemporary architecture with the same brush.

There are plenty of contemporary buildings that are great. This market / housing estate in Rotterdam is a really nice place to be in

It's well lit I suppose, but I wouldn't want to feel like I'm living in aquarium every day. Bright colors have to be used in moderation or it becomes tiresome, e.g. the stain glass windows contrasted against the dark stone walls of a cathedral. There's a postmodern building at the university I attended that is covered in vivid primary colors. After one semester with several classes scheduled there, I wanted to beat a clown to death.

I was thinking Dubai has some interesting architecture that isn't offensive.

I dunno. Kind feels like you're a hamster in a cage. Ths space is grand, but the cartoon shape of the thing doesn't really sing the praises of your evolutionary past.

I love bauhaus modern architecture. The art can fuck right off though.

Started with Bauhaus. Read Tom Wolfe's From Bauhaus to Our House

I've recently been reading all about architects who follow bauhaus philosophy.

I've built plenty of houses. Roughly one every 6 months for the past 20 years, and I always get excited when I get to build something I actually like. At this point in my life I'm finally looking to build my own home, and it will absolutely be a bauhaus style modern.

What I recall is that, if the house is built where there's a lot of precipitation, it will be prone to leaks. Of course, there's been a lot of homebuilding technology improvements since Tom Wolfe wrote that book.

There are some aspects of modern design that I like. Clean lines and such.

Then there's Mercedes Benz Stadium which is one of the ugliest pieces of shit I've ever seen.
