Just in the case of historic firsts, Bert Hinkley, Charles Lindbergh, the 33 crewmembers of the R34, John Alcock, Arthur Brown, and the six crewmembers of NC4 all crossed the Atlantic before Earhart.
That's 43 right there. They're or may or may not be 30-some more. There are other flights I left out, because they weren't historic (like her own first crossing of the Atlantic, as a passenger while two men flew her across).
