Most of the time they don't have to "make something up" but instead just use some perfectly "legal" fine that's on the books. I know someone that got pulled over late at night for a random DUI stop. He was honest with the cop, said he had two beers, and did the full field sobriety test. After cooperating with him, the cop said he did an "aggressive start" from a red light, wrote him a ticket for $200, and did the exact same thing he accused the guy of.

Police are a different breed in today's diverse society, because the job offers new incentives and drawbacks from the good ol' days of the Andy Griffith Show. Power trips are the highlight of a cop's day between incredibly tense traffic stops and chasing down thugs. The job in a limited scope is necessary for society, but also would only attract psycopaths or low to mid-IQ authoritarians.

Admittedly, it's probably different outside major urban centers. But it isn't pretty here.

standard pig-thug operating procedure in the UK. make something up. We don't have actual real Police anymore, they were replaced by a large pedophile gang in the late 1960s.

The only reason they're apologising is because they didn't stop the video before it escaped onto the internet, otherwise they'd have gone ahead and made something up, just like the petty tyrant said.

A few years ago I saw a video of a dashcam that filmed 360 degrees and could not be switched off, being examined by US police in a traffic stop. Showed it to a guy who is a mid ranking pig (DS) in this country. His reaction was that he would have claimed I referred to it as a bomb and had it destroyed in a controlled explosion to ensure it could not incriminate him.
