If we returned to American manufacturing it would be a return of things that last for decades or centuries.
No business can survive if their products last decades... only a small business does that because it has to, in order to attract business... you think nike is going to make an american made nike that last 10- 25 years where you can resole the bottom? no... they are going to make it for a dollar in china/vietnam and sell it for one hundred to a few hundred dollars and people will wear it out in 1-3 years.. jeez you are a fucking idiot.. the consumer always fucks over the manufacturer. So the manufacturer will make their product wear out/look not as good fairly quickly..
Nike cannot survive if they actually have to use American workers instead of chink slaves. People will look for something that will last as prices go up, especially after this stimulus bill ratchets up the inflation. If they are allowed to fail, then someone who meets the new demand will appear to make that money. If allowed.
More likely the government will continue to prop up large mega-corps while keeping real competition from happening. All on your dime. So, after that, then your scenario of continuously cheaper, shittier, and more expensive products will come to pass. And then nobody can afford the products anymore and the government collapses as millions starve.
