Will the tax on gas be higher than the price of the gas? Poorly written and researched story.

Lowest levels in US History? Wrong. Lowest levels for gas prices were back in the 50's & 60's when gas stations had "gas wars". At various points they would actually give gas away for free. All you had to do was pay the state tax on gas which at the time was 10 cents. These 'wars' would only last a day or so at those prices before a truce was made between warring stations.
Meanwhile before reaching the 'free' gas point, the price of gas would steadily decline over the days and weeks leading up to the truce. In those days it was typical for a corner to the 2 or even 3 opposing gas stations fighting each other for customers. But even then the normal price of gas was between 30-50 cents a gallon - still cheaper than 99 cents being projected.
People would take anything that held gas to the stations and fill them up. You would see people pushing their lawnmowers to the gas stations just to fill the tank...... but I suppose for most folks, history doesn't go back more than a few years hence the claim of Lowest Levels in U.S. History."

It certainly hasn't fallen at the pumps here.. Typical profiteering.. Never mind, not many people on the roads at the moment so perhaps that'll hurt them more than lowering the prices.

But in Liberalfornia gas is still over $3 and $4 in some places.
According to some friends of mine who are still there.

What asshole wrote this shit? I specifically remember losing my mind when gas cracked the 1.15 mark, up from what I thought was astronomical at .92.. for fuck's sake, when i was a child I remember gas being .65
