What subreddit is that from?

I actually find the "'the youth' (I'm 30)" the most annoying part of that. As if it is so important to (a) demonstrate the OP is an adult and (b) make fun of an older person for think someone several decades younger is in their youth. A 30 y/o is young and that is true even compared to people in their 50s, much less someone in their 90s. I remember how my grandma used to call the other elderly women in her Sunday school class 'girls', because while they were in their 70s, they were also 20 years younger than she was. Fuck I hate reddit.

/r/thathappened

Even if it were the case, there are 99 other elderly patients who love their kids to death. I work in an allied health profession and I’m doing placement at an aged care facility. Not a single one of them ever talks about their fucking jobs, their holidays or time spent with friends. It is ALWAYS family.

“No amount of money ever bought a second of time” is quote from an Avengers movie that I thought was actually really good. When you stop and just think about the quote, everything outside of family seems worthless.

Yes but ultimately, they are still not the same. And if they have their own family, you can bet you’re coming in 2nd place. Family is legacy, it’s your mark left on the world, and the people who have it seem to be at peace while the childless are forever unsettled and confronted with a completely pointless existence.

This never happened. The older you get the more you value your children.

That is very true but unfortunately your children don't feel the same about you.

My wife an I never wanted to have children until one day we did, and I can say without the slightest hint of irony that my daughter has changed everything for me and given me the meaning I'd searched for and never found.

Its human nature to reproduce. Reproduction is a need just as much as sex, food, water, air, warmth, etc.

It's not in my nature nor in a lot of peoples' nature. Unfortunately people only see the pleasant side to breeding before they take the plunge. The female sees cute little human toys; the male feels pride in being the head of the pride; all advertisements by businesses showing the family are stereotypical - handsome dad, pretty mum, adorable kids. Parents are lulled into thinking that's how it will pan out for them when nothing could be further from the truth - the squalor, drudgery, boredom, stress including financial stress, the arguments ... Parenthood is a great con by females, government and business and men are the suckers.
