We have when the kids were young, it's not easy, hell it isn't easy now. Just plan on driving very early while the kids are sleeping, then stopping often. I hope you are doing bottles, that's the only way it'll work. Get some cushions for the 2 1/2 yr olds car seat straps where his/her head is supported. And bring a big bag of books for them.

Preface: I've never done a trip that long. with or without kids.

Car seats have breathing risks for babies when used for long periods, and also stiff limbs/bed sore type discomfort, so ideally you would take the baby out for a break every two hours, which would give you a chance to nurse and change them, avoiding crankiness from hunger and wet bums. Also it's best to avoid driving more than 2 hours at time anyway to avoid fatigue.

Car games, conversation, music, picture books, drawing/sticker books are great (you can get tray tables that attach to car seats.), but there is no shame in using a tablet for videos or games to keep the peace in this situation. Plenty of snacks and drinks are a must for the toddler . For the baby, rattles and chew toys might keep interest if they are grasping. Print a series of bold pictures (black and white or only contrasting colours like red and green) that you can stick in their eye line and rotate on breaks (test velcro, sticky tape, pegs/clips etc before you leave to see if it works). A mirror as well if you don't already have one. You could also try rigging a mobile up. Hopefully the baby will sleep a lot of the time though.

My mom always kept a wooden spoon near her. That worked well for us!
