You need to make a video and disguise your face and voice and teach us.
At least tell me,
Where do I buy the knives?
What's the difference if I get 8" or 5" knives?
What do I use as a target? As a backdrop?
How do I sharpen them?

Youtube Xolette. A 5" knife is small. What matters with knife throwing is the balance. 80/20, 50/50, 30/70, those are what determin what kind of throwing youre going to use.
As for a target, I've got THE target you can make for very little. Go buy a 6'-8' treated post. 4x4 or 5x5, whichever. Then cut about 5"-6" slices until you have enough to make something like a 4ft by 4ft square target. Lay them all down on a plywood or OSB board of the same size. Then, from the back of the board, screw through the board into the blocks holding them in place. You can also get some 2x4s and wrap around the edges.

Fucker has skills. He probably has no job but he used his free time better than playing video games.

Craigslist, or one of those neighborhood apps that allow you to post shit for the local community. Also knife throwing is cool and I wish I could do it, but I don't really see any practical uses for it, except of course using it as a party trick to maybe pick up some girls. I just feel like if I have a knife in a fight I am holding onto it as long as I can, also if I am in a fight with deadly weapons, I'd rather just have a gun.
But when I was a kid my best friend had throwing stars and some throwing knives, and a bunch of these cheesy ninja posters on his wall and we used to throw the projectiles at the ninjas. It was fun and we got pretty decent at it, but I quickly realized it is not as effective as the movies. Still a lot of fun though. And you didnt ask for it, but there you go. That is some of my thoughts on the subject. Good luck with your neighborhood ninja group. :)

Pretty good at knife throwing, although I never was "serious" about it. Axes and hatchets as well, although I don't think I have tried an overhead double handed ax throw in ~40 years. And darts of course, anything like that I am good at. I even have a talent for throwing raw utility razor blades and making them stick, which is not an easy thing to do, they have to hit exactly right or they bounce off. As far as getting people interested, I don't have any suggestions. My feeling is that people are either born with these types of skills and are naturally attracted to honing them, or they simply do not have them.

How about playing cards?
[–] MemeDropAcct ago (edited ago)
I know I can throw them OK, but I don't think I have ever tried to stick them. Would need something like floral foam or something as a target I guess. Or maybe clay, although this would not be kind to the cards. Good with Frisbees too, which I actually have one somewhere. And Shirikins of course. Not that I have any, but as a kid we all did. Probably the most popular project in Metal Shop that never got turned in to be graded as I recall.
Oh: While on the subject of rotational throwing I should include that I am an ace with launching beer bottle caps snap finger launch frisbee flight style. Always fun at those bonfire parties as a kid.

The hatchet throwing is pretty cool, but now it's one of those problematic hair Hangouts for queers.
I'll stick to the gun range.

My dad taught me as well and he was an expert at it. I'm pretty good myself. I could stick even a Swiss army knife in you at 30ft.

Check out Flying Steel. The Talisman is AWESOME. But for your wallets sake, Cold Steel Sure Balance and True Flight Thrower. With the TFT you can work on Fedin style and the Sure Balance you can do Ralph Thorn. For Mumyou-Ryu style you need something a little different. Specialized. Its hard. Really hard. Instead of throwing, its almost like pushing the knife.

My dad and I made a knife and pellet range in our basement when I was just a wee lad. I only messed up the plaster once.
He had me throw from several distances and made lines on the ground where i could stand and my default rotation would end with the blade entering correctly. It was up to me to figure out how to make them stick from the areas in between and eventually trying no-spin like I'd see on TV.
You just brought back a flood of memories.

You must be white. Sounds like you had a good dad. I hope he was similar is the other aspects of parentage.

Of course we're white, I had a dad and a house! I remember learning that the old Stretch Armstrong (with the thick syrup inside) was more or less pellet-proof unless you hit the edge of his arm "skin".
