Yeah, besides the normal problem of everyone trying to overthrow the king to become king themselves, common in the Kingdom, he also has the problem of being so young it will be seen as illegitimate in many eyes, and interpreted as weakness, encouraging further attacks upon him. It's one thing to be second to the king, quite another to be king himself. I think Victoria suffered a similar problem early in her reign as well.
If he goes all Saddam to kill off his potential rivals, then that too will be interpreted as instability, and also generate open attacks against him. He needs the hearts and minds to back him, and without that he will be constantly under siege.
Notice how Trump has been slowly winning over the hearts and minds of the American people - weakening his enemies to the point where now their attacks are losing all legitimacy. Trump can do that in part because of his age. He comes across as a father figure, backed by an experienced team. MBS can't do that. Napoleon was 36 at his coronation with a successful track record of prior military achievement. MBS' war record is not so good, and his progress with OPEC is equally shaky.
I really do think they are going to kill him the first chance they get.

Thanks for your insight Crusty'. I hadn't looked at the situation through that prism before.
