The article is 25 years old, but his statements are still relvant.

As long as the war on drugs is at the same (or worse) place as 1990, and as long as he still believes this, I'm all for it.

I don't do drugs (unless you consider alcohol a drug), but I agree that or current war on drugs is entirely in vain. We need a new tactic, a new direction of attack in order to make this work.

Think of it as a ground war. The soldiers fight for their superiors, their superiors carry out the orders of their leaders. In turn, the very rich, very powerful leaders give them a little wealth and power.

Now, if you (their enemy) tell the soldiers that you will stop attacking them, protect them from their leaders, and give them wealth and power while under our protection, you can effectively disassemble the army. Without the soldiers, the leaders are powerless. And now, you have an army to fight for you. You no longer spend money fighting them, but you make money off of their work. You then use this money to keep the system safe.

It is, and that's the point, almost everyone is a recreational drug user to some degree, but it hasn't torn society apart.

Actually, It kinda has. If I was in the business of telling people what drugs they could do (I'm not), alcohol would not be among them. It's destructive as fuck it makes people violent and stupid and dangerous

If I believed him, this would make me vote for him. The drug war is one of the most destructive things to ever happen to this country.

"Billionaire New York developer Donald Trump says that legalizing drugs is the only way to win the war against what he considers one of America`s most serious problems."

"Trump blamed the country`s drug problems on politicians"

"'You have to legalize drugs to win that war. You have to take the profit away from these drug czars.'"

Hasn't Rand been saying this from day 1?

He says state rights should dictate something like this. But it's evident to see the drug war isn't working and any state who would continue prohibition will lag.

LOL, but I bet you think Bernie's platitudes are all pearls of wisdom, though.

That is so uncharacteristic of all the rest of them. We have had liars for my entire existence on this planet.

Barack Obama just recently won not one, but two elections telling people about all sorts of wonderful stuff he never intended to do. Those voters haven't changed.

candidate that knows what to say to people = smartest candidate

This article is 25 years old, his views could have changed completely by now.

Not likely. But still, it's relevant to bring up, He made these comments in front of 700 people. Has the drug war improved since 1990? I doubt his position has changed, but it's still a relevant post and I'd like to see the Donald respond (and affirm his beliefs)

That seems to be the latest quote that I can find from him aside from his claim that he's never even touched alcohol.

I can understand legalizing some drugs and using the profits to fund anti-drug commercials, like we do with alcohol.
