Yeah, the idea of spoiling your infant by holding them is nonsense.... In fact, not having enough contact and affective tough with an infant is a theory for how an infant becomes autistic

You can't spoil a baby. There has a lot of research that baby wearing actually helps a baby adjust to being outside of the womb. I read a lot of book from Dr Sears on Baby-wearing and the benefits https://www.askdrsears.com/topics/health-concerns/fussy-baby/baby-wearing/benefits-babywearing I used slings and carriers.
I will add from my own experience, only one child I had to put into a stroller (I had surgery months later and couldn't carry her, just hold her) and she is the one that I don't feel as close to than her other two sisters. However it has increased her bond with her dad because he carried her the most.
I never had a problem with them being independent later because I let them have that space when they wanted it.

You cannot spoil a baby. They aren't even capable of being manipulative until they are MUCH older. Don't let your baby cry it out. Baby-wear. Be attentive to your babies needs. Older kids can be spoilt. Not babies. Babies cry to communicate actual needs, and physical closeness is an actual need they have. The more you attend to a child under two, the more independent they will be later. So give your baby the love and affection your baby needs NOW if you truly want an independent child later.

I would say, go with whatever feels right and natural for you and your Baby :) I was a very fussy, cranky infant and apparently didn't like to be held a lot. my Sister had the same with her youngest. Her eldest though loved being in a wrap or a sling.
Another commenter below mentioned the best thing you can do is to instil a sense of independence in them from a young age, as soon as they can walk, and this is an excellent point too.
You'll find wht works for you, and it's so good you're already thinking ahead on this issue. The very best of luck to you <3
