well, in some ways, coronavirus has triggered widespread loss of confidence in the CCP so the argument remains. in many ways, the timing is also parallel - imagine 2 more generations of CCP control. They already have a firm grip, their control could've been insurmountable.

I do think that we've all been asleep, passive, and unwilling to collectively come together and make the effort to fix all these problems. imo, we're lucky that these idiots were not more patient.
If the problem becomes acute enough companies will need to consider the problem of maintaining all their manufacturing eggs in one Chinese basket. It might make them diversify their supply chain rather than rely on China for everything.
