We talked about this in my audit class, apparently it's a pretty common thing to do.
Also sending companies stuff that they didn't order, but will pay for anyway.
[–] Chempergrill 0 points 16 points 16 points (+16|-0) ago
How often does it get caught vs. just paid and no one notices?
[–] JacobJaredKenworthy 0 points 20 points 20 points (+20|-0) ago
If a company doesn't have controls to match invoices with orders, it will be paid pretty much 100% of the time. Any serious company will have such controls by now, I imagine.

Depends on how many "diversity hires" a company has. As has been already shown, Google must have achieved 100% diversity in their accounting department.

Isn't this what a "purchase order" is for?
[–] [deleted] 0 points 12 points 12 points (+12|-0) ago
Definitely. Maybe plus a little Mercantile. Either way, though, the relation they present is horribly contradictory. Showing a picture of him getting caught and then saying his Sneak is maxed out is like showing him shooting arrows that keep missing and saying his Marksman is maxed out. That's...that's just not how it works.

If the bills were fraudulent, I. E. asked payment for services/products that were never delivered, then yes it is theft. But if he managed it well, e.g. made perfectly clear that the unsolicited service was actually paying own rent, then it is purely an error of the company's accountant.

He should have said he was charging them for all his personal information that they got from him.
[–] MikeyMo123 0 points 3 points 3 points (+3|-0) ago
They probably put a "false-pretenses" or some bullshit like that on there.

It's called "Theft by Deception" and is a form of fraud. Yes, it is illegal.

He's saying the dollar is backed by public acceptance which is still in place. I would add that it's also backed by government violence if you don't pay your tax obligations with dollars. It's not a coincidence that the fed was passed at about the same time as the income tax. It's also not a coincidence that they've pretty much abandoned the use of amendments to the constitution since those passed.

The last person I gave one to accepted it, so, so far so good.

Norton issued his own money in the form of scrips which were accepted from him by restaurants in San Francisco.[44] These notes came in denominations between fifty cents and ten dollars, and the few surviving notes are collector's items.
If you're not familiar with this guy who declared himself emperor of San Francisco, read this. Sorry about the link.

Not quite that simple.., even if they make a mistake it can can back to haunt you.....
Anecdotal: I was flat broke, wife and kids, I’m using the credit card for groceries waiting everyday for a cheque to arrive. It’s only $1300 but it is due and I need it fucking bad! Day after day hoping and waiting, mr postman, please..please, my credit card is almost dead......
Then mr postman showed up with some bills...., and a cheque.! Ya fuck ya! Back in business! Open the envelope, look at cheque made out to my name in the amount of $135,000.00.
Fuck. Do I cash it? No. Can not cash huge cheque because company that made mistake would never do business with me again.., besides the fact I would have to pat it all back...,
Holding a fortune, thinking, maybe just cash it and run to Mexico.., fuck the family, fuck everyone......,
Decided better, sent it back, waited another week for $1300 bucks....

I would have deposited it. Then acted like I didn't even notice.
