Thomas Jefferson complained that "Forty five percent of the populace know only what the newspapers tell them."

Nothing has changed.

I still know some of those 45%. It's a shame, most of them are family members.

Do you think it's still only 45? I'm not that optimistic

Wasn't it Mark Twain who said "Those who do not read the newspaper on uninformed. Those who do are ill-informed."?

Public schools stopped teaching civics (our government at the federal and state level) over 50 years ago. The real history of America has been omitted and replaced with Marxist/Socialist lies and propaganda two generations ago. The deliberate dumbing down of our children is a complete success. This all can be turned around only by waking up good parents and demanding a complete overhaul of the system and total control of the local school board.

I'm in my mid 50's and I can still remember my father talking about the dumbing down of America before I was a teenager. As far as waking up good parents. Good luck with that. A group of folks here went up against the local school board and as luck would have it, some of the teachers started asking students with last names the same as members of the group if they were any relation to us. It certainly dampened the ire of a lot of the good parents. Some of us without kids in the district were targeted for reassessment of our properties. Until you get the unions out of the schools, it's a losing battle.

Wut? (I kid, I kid...) Agree on the unions 100%. Homeschool if you can. 2 hours a day. It's worth it.

As an educator, this is so sad. I teach math and science but I see it in the writing and comments of my students. Very disheartening!

Had a sophomore once tell me on the first day of English class, they were teaching the difference between there, they're and their. And kids were asking questions. Sad.

Saw two news clips (one was cnn) of the Ukrainian Foreign Minister discussing the military aid and another on the phone call. His impression was the US media distorted the facts negatively. The military aid is renewed annually and paid twice a year and did not appear to be an issue. He was with Pres. Zelensky during the phone call and said there was no pressure.

If the American people were to watch those clips in conjuction with the House Managers' presentations, they would think it was separate topics.

I see the MSM brainwashing too. So many opinions being stated as if they were fact.

Obuma's Common Core was designed to dumb the students for complete takeover of the globalists and use them as slaves. It was total BS from the beginning.
