Looking at the service plans Hulu, a Disney company, offers it reads like you signed up for "Hulu + Live TV", not basic "Hulu" or "Hulu (No Ads)". The difference being that Hulu +liveTV allows you to "Get First Week Free then $54.99/month". Basic Hulu allows you to "Get First Month Free then $5.99/month", and Hulu (No Ads) "Get First Month Free then $11.99/month". Also, clicking the above link and not going through Hulu's landing page you won't see the Hulu +liveTV option unless you go through the actual landing.

It's standard practice for telecom businesses to charge you for a full months service for the plan they help you subscribe to, regardless what deals and discounts they're offering for that plan. It's easier for them to simply credit you on the following months service for that offered discount. This leaves the burden of responsibility on you to read the details to know what each plan is and what their associated rates and terms are before entering into the service.

If the superbowl has passed, your mother seen her team play, and you haven't had the service beyond seven days, you shouldn't have any problems getting a full refund.

Thank you for your coherent answer. I did plan on pursuing severance Monday. I have had more expensive lessons in my life. With a pattern of inviting lamestream media into my home once every 30 years continues, I'll be 110 years old next time.

Hulu did indeed refund all charges. My two-day television experience is truly over.
