Not sure why people don't like that. I laughed, but sadly it's true.

So what's the problem? Oh, I see. Poorer people are lesser human and should be relegated to living in slummy neighbourhoods.

I grew up in a neighbourhood that had a mix of social housing, condos, rental apartments and single family homes. I grew up with friends some of which were poor and others were middle class. It really isn't the nightmare that breitbart.com makes it out to be.

I am a black nationalist - and I am a black nationalist for the same reason I am a white nationalist - and an Asian nationalist: people of differing cultures deserve their own self-determined destinies, not those proscribed by government.

I would rather have had a beer with Malcolm X than Martin Luther King any day - at least Malcolm X understood the power of a people's self-determination, of self-ordination and self-reliance. MLKJ insisted on casting the lot of black people with the fate of the white man, and what has been the result? Racial tensions, mutual mistrust, and suboptimal outcomes for all.

Congratulations, America - you have denied the inherent aspects of human tribalism and are now paying the many and varied prices for it. Enjoy your dystopic future, and all the while, please do remember:

this is the future you chose.

Breitbart is the political equivalent of the National Enquirer. This isn't real news.

Except the section 8 people won't be moving in next to our government people responsible for this incredibly dumb move. That's for sure.

Poor != criminal. Getting hard working families out of seedy areas helps build communities with exponential growth through each generation.

Not at all as a rule, but poor=more likely to commit violent crime.

Similar to wealthy=more likely to commit white.collar crimes. Admittedly these crimes are less visceral than their violent counterparts, but can be as damaging, if not more damaging to society. The corruption at the heart of Wallstreet which caused the whole melt down for example.

I live in a suburban county that mixes section 8 housing with regular housing. It's actually a good idea and seems to be working. And my county has been doing this for over 35 years.

My old house's value dropped damned near 50% after they introduced Section 8 housing in the neighborhood. We moved after the shootings started.

How was it at first? I'd imagine things have leveled out after 35 years, but there had to have been a hit to property values and increase in crime at first, no?

It's one of the richest counties in the country. Real estate prices were always pretty high. I'm sure there were some problems at first. And being a rich county there was always good policing. But overall 35 years later it's still a rich county and the crime rate has alway been low. If you really want to look it up it's Columbia, MD.

I also lived in Arlington Virginia. It's the most densely populated county in the country. So section 8 housing is everywhere. When I lived there they had 3 years of zero homicides. Again I don't think it hurt property values.

The real problem is putting all the section 8 housing in one place. Baltimore did this for a long time and it didn't work. People become afraid to call the police. And crime just escalates. If you've ever seen the TV show "The Wire" it's very accurate about the problems of high density section 8 housing (putting all the poor people together). People never learn how to get out of the poverty. And if someone shows interest in school and academics, they are shunned by their peers.

When the population is mixed economics, poor people don't feel pressured to act poor. Because there are plenty of people around them taking academics seriously.
