Beos was amazing when it came out. Haiku is the open source version that still works today.

It's still amazing in many ways but OSes have caught up.

A lot of people don't realize BeOS is dead. I was rather surprised to learn Haiku picked up where that left off.

Way back when, I had hopes for BeOS and then they did something stupid called hold out for even more money than they were already asking for. I knew at that point it would fail and after reading its history, I was right-_-.

Haiku is pretty cool. I just wish it got some more attention in the aesthetic and available software departments.

The aesthetic is perfect. In contrast to "modern" operating systems it is not cluttered, ie annoying.

The amount of available software is rapidly increasing. Only thing really missing is a top notch web browser.

I wouldn't say perfect, but I do agree about the lack of annoying clutter. I was commenting more on how It could have better anti-aliasing, some visual transparency support, and themes.
