Why do you want to use an outdated and non-secure operating system? Win7 was Windows before Win10, with its intrusions via the Microsoft big-brother backdoor. Give linux a try: Ubuntu, as an example, is ridiculously easy to install and there are lots of ways to get help and advice. There may be a bit of a learning curve but Linux provides far more versatility when dealing with different types of file systems.

Not a fan of Ubuntu. Last time I tried it out, there were ads/suggestions in the search window and I hate the idea of having to remove stuff from a fresh install.

What a good way to ruin a perfectly fine WIndows 7 install. Wouldn't want to prevent them from installing their backported telemetry now would we?
[–] oaf 0 points 1 point 1 point (+1|-0) ago
True
The "scene" aka "pirates" remove telemetry (disable) in their fancy large iso installers, all prepatched. Also no telemetry with "Microsoft Windows Server 2019 Datacenter Desktop Experience + GUI"
nzbs for Windows on usenet that have proper matching proven MD5 hashes from the official pirate groups are all pre-patched, with separate activation methods :

By setting the appropriate checkmark in the installer, there is an opportunity to make a choice about the need to install Windows immediately with the preinstalled Microsoft Office 2019 x86, which contains only Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

Better for gaming than Windows 10 , and fresh and recent, but EQUAL, and no phone-home telemetry :

Patches are needed for safety, especially the vault7 exploits (SMB), my links have most all the patches, but not the telemetry

fuck win10...tried to do my wife a favor and get all her iphone pics on to her HDD and windows 10 wouldn't see the phone as a storage device to do so (maybe there's a trick, dunno), but my win7 machine allowed me to see the folder on the phone and transfer the pics to my HDD, which I put on a thumb drive to transfer to hers...probably some function built into win10 under advice from those fuckers at apple...point being I love win7 and absolutely loathe win10...yeah, yeah, I know FUCK ALL WIN...if I was younger and less set in my ways I'm sure I'd be using linux
[–] tentra 0 points 3 points 3 points (+3|-0) ago
Just switch to linux, my whole family runs something with the KDE desktop, it's really easy switching from Windows.
[–] noob_tube 0 points 6 points 6 points (+6|-0) ago
That's probably the fault of the iphone, not windows. I know I find iphones unusable because you can't put music files on them like a regular phone.
[–] bizzywiz 0 points 3 points 3 points (+3|-0) ago
note that I stated I achieved my goal on win7...honestly I have no idea if the root of the issue is with win10 or the iphone...but, again, as noted I got win7 to see the DCIM (IIRC) folder and was able to copy all the photos and videos to my win7 machine

I have to use Apple at work. The devices often can't see each other, even on their own network.
These are the "high end" piles of scrap too...

[insert search engine of choice] windows god mode.
Make a shortcut on the desktop and you’ll never have to deal with those dumbed down apps again.

Linux is as easy to install and use as windows. Point and click for everything, unless you want to learn and use the command line.
