The problem lies with "naturally occurring." Stew isn't naturally occurring, neither is bread. If we're allowed to put our food through all kinds of chemical processes in the kitchen, why can't we do it elsewhere?

The difference comes in the effect said chemicals have on the body.
Right, but if we're just saying that some chemicals are more harmful than others, then we've abandoned the whole "natural" qualifier.
