Uh, how can they implement a policy like that without violating everyone's rights. Last 2 primaries and generals I voted, without being registered to a party, and the Rep. had no such policy in place then. Lawsuit time, again, I guess.

Folks, It's the REPUBLICAN PARTY in California who has NOT permitted "No Party Preference" voters to vote for their Primary Candidates. Only the parties listed below have permitted this, so CA has a "modified" closed primary system. Check out the other 49 states and find out what is permitted there and by which parties.

CA Rules:

History of Political Parties That Have Adopted Party Rules Regarding No Party Preference Voters

Since January 1, 2001, California has had a "modified" closed primary system that permits "no party preference" (formally known as "decline-to-state") voters to participate in a party's primary election if authorized by the individual party's rules and duly noticed to the Secretary of State. If authorized by a party, no party preference voters would be allowed to vote for the office of U.S. President for that party.

Listed below is the history of the political parties who adopted a party rule permitting no party preference voters to request a party ballot in recent primary elections for partisan offices.

March 3, 2020, Presidential Primary Election

American Independent Party, letter dated October 16, 2019

Democratic Party, letter dated September 23, 2019

Libertarian Party, letter received October 11, 2019

This is a good GOP move. I regularly vote in Dem PRIMARIES. Usually for their 2nd or 3rd place candidate who might drop out if he can't pull out a good showing. Candidates #2-#3 drain money and time from the front runner. Rush called it "Operation Caos". The sooner the primary is over, the sooner the Dems can focus all their efforts and money on Trump. Prolong the Dem amongst themselves.
