I'm either friendly or literal friends with almost all my neighbors. Hell my neighbors just joined us for Christmas dinner.

Ha, you're the fuckwad neighbor nobody likes. Boomers are the best neighbors. They have nice shit to share and great advice on how to be successful. They also return your calls, check the mail for you, return your lost pets and give you baked goods occassionally. But, go ahead and stick with your lame attitude. I'm sure it'll get you places.

The tradition of going to church with our neighbors provided an important role in turning a neighborhood into a community.
I don't even disagree with taking a few steps away from religion, but we have to create something to fill that role otherwise the community dies. I can't think of anything that's even come close to filling those shoes.

Fully agree. My family and I walk to the local church, where our children attended preschool, 2 or 3 times a month. We're not super religious, but it ties us to the community.

Whites are probably the only ones actually hosting get-togethers. I guarantee this stidy is skewed by certain demographics being included.

Fucking internets.
Wife and I hosted a Christmas party. We do every year. I made sure everyone on my street got a invitation. Every single neighbor thanked me personally. Many of them have lived here for 20 plus years and they expressed how we all get in our lives and forget our neighbors. It was fun to see them all get together and drink and talk. My nephew decided to share his weed with a few of them. Today all of them wave and say hello. The priceless thing about it, no one will be fucking with anyone's home because we all look out for each other.
If you live in an apartment, just invite them over for tea or coffee. You will find friendship and more importantly a community.

I find just walking around the neighborhood (I walk the dog twice a day) and putting in the effort to be charming is the best way to meet the neighbors. But I took great pains to live in a nice, all white neighborhood.

Feels good to live beside white people. Friendly with them all.
