Yes, me too. Working people struggle to feed, clothe and house their families and don’t get anything free. My parents, brother and sisters did without anything but the bate necessities. We couldn’t even go to the doctor unless we looked like we were dying. My dad had to pay 100% of the hospital bills when us kids were born. The welfare freeloaders have more of everything than 50% of the working class. Bums on SSI get as much as many old people on social security that worked their whole life.

I don't understand the absolute necessity of having $100 worth of toys that really aren't needed for every single child in this country. IF people feel inclined to help a family out, I'm pretty sure that they know a family they can help. But, no.... we have made these people feel entitled to this materialism and it is expected. Could you imagine if one year they don't have the funds to do this??? Or if they can ONLY provide one single thing per child? Can't you just hear the riots forming?
I think the whole idea is just bull. It's a way to make the poor feel like they're not poor. If they're poor, then they're poor and they need to either make their situation better, or learn to live with their poor decisions.

NIV scripture-quoting church pastors start rolling the drive announcements in mid-July and often won't accept donated backpacks worth less than $30. Then they give out clothes and free haircutsNice to see where my tithes were going when I had to make the remaining $60 last 35 days

The backpack/school supply thing bothers me. They expect it. They spend money on their nails and get free school stuff for their kids. Definitely a scam. The Christmas toy giveaway is also out of control. It gives the recipients a false sense of entitlement and probably leads to them stealing when they get older.

2 years after my massive heart attack and long recovery, I volunteered to help pass out Toys for Tots at our local VFW.
Arrived at the Local "V" in my 20 year old beat up POS Chevy to a completely FULL (10 acre parking lot and local fairgrounds overflow) of nearly new luxury SUV's. They were NOT there to help. They were there to GET. Spouses were at opposite sides of the line and in the utter confusion and near panic, each spouse received DOUBLE GIBS. After nearly 3 hours of near riotous stampeding handouts, we were empty.....bewildered and in shell-shocked disbelief, I headed to the empty parking lot which was littered with children's NEW clothing, socks, gloves, blankets and coats. I walked through that frozen, ice glazed parking lot to my ol POS Chevy to a caved in rear quarter panel (about the same height of a SUV rear bumper) guess they were in a hurry to get home with their GIBS.
I no longer "give" my money OR my time to "charities".
