Degeneracy and subversion, it never ends.
The 'games' coming out these days would be panned as a shitty unfinished shareware title 20 years ago.

Support indie developers. This is where the cutting-edge of game design is at. The graphics might not be as good, but what is being made now blows anything out of the water that was made 10-20 years ago.
Yes, I love the classics as well, but if you take the nostalga glasses off for a sec and look at what was possible from a gameplay standpoint then as compared to now, there is no way most the older games are objectively better. There are exceptions, sure, but if you look at it from the perspective of entire genres, indie games are better in most cases now than their predecessors.
It's a lot like music. You have to dig now for both good games and good music as both industries have been altered by the internet and culture. Quality still exists, it's just buried in a mountain of shit now that any Shemuel, kang, and Haji can put their "art" out into the public.

There are too many hurdles to get these new games, though. First, there's no catalogue with all of them to browse through. Second, they don't run out of the box on Linux. Old games, I just download a ROM pack with all games for a given system and an emulator and I'm more or less set. I get a finished game that I'm sure won't receive any updates in the future and I'm also sure to be able to play it going forward on new hard- and software. Additionally, new systems game libraries will become available like this, including games that already had marketing done for them, so I know they exist and whether I would want to play them or not.

Linux gaming is the classic "chicken and egg" problem. Most see no reason to switch, but they have to switch first before it's financially feasible to offer games on that platform. Valves half assed effort a few years back didn't help at all.

Those were the days where I actually spent my money, now I have gone back to alternate ways to trying games out without giving those jackasses my money

DontNod are faggots of the highest order. They even managed to cram pozzshit into a Vampire game set in first world war london.

Vampyre. It isn't that bad as a game. You are freshly turned vampire that can choose to drink from people in enclaves and level up faster but it creates chaos in the enclaves. Or you can do missions for them (if i remember rightly). In between the enclaves there are lawless sections of vampires, werewolves and vampire hunters who all aggro to you and then it turns into Bloodborne light. Graphics Are ok but nothing special as it is a AA game.
The Pozz comes in the form of a gay couple and some race mixing, stuff like that. I suppose if you want to get your rocks off you can determine which characters Are SJW bullshit and murder the fuckers. If you get it, get on sale, all round it is a 7/10
