The TPP is a treaty to make an alliance between a group of countries. If I'm not mistaken it includes the USA, Mexico, Canada, New Zealand and a couple of south american nations. Trade agreements like this and the European Union are common and practically every country is in one or more but since this is the latest of them it should tell you a lot about the current political state of our planet and also what to expect from the future.

What distinguishes this from other trade agreements is the fact that it would allow corporations to sue governments. So your shitty government wants to protect the rainforest instead of letting me rape if for profit? I'm suing you! Want to protect citizen rights? Sued! If this is put into practice governs won't even try to defend themselves - why even fight against someone who is equipped with all resources to win while you're barely struggling to survive?

It also has been given fast-track privilege on the USA, which means the President gets to ignore all the principles the nation was founded upon and decide for himself if he wants to sign the agreement or not. Much like Saddam Hussein's or any other dictatorship works.

It is also being defined behind closed doors which means not a single public citizen or politician gets to have a say on anything. Who's deciding? Big money, of course.

Well that's what everybody knows but as I said it's biggest importance is for we to know what it means to the world. Everyone can take a guess and no one can say for certain but here is how I see it:

Why would the "almighty" USA suddenly align with such a shitty economy as Peru? Why sign a trade agreement with New Zealand - I mean of course both are english-speaking countries but they're not even in the same hemisphere for crying out loud! Why is there no European presence in the deal? For me it seems that the political powers in the United States have seen their own demise: oil price is in constant rise, as are powerful eastern economies. Their reign is soon to be over so the country is holding on tight to anyone who is willing to go down with it, it is even willing to do away with civil rights and outright hand the power over to multi-national corporations. Mexico, Canada and NZ are forever to be seen as allies of the USA and they're never gonna be friends with Chine and the like for this and other geographical reasons - they might as well take their chances alongside the falling giant. Europe too would much rather keep doors open and side with China if it is given the chance as the nation takes the place of the USA as top economy for the millennium.

Maybe I'm reading too much into it but if I'm right to any length I say good-riddance to the USA war-mongers and for one, welcome our new Eastern overlords.

It's very hard to answer these questions since the whole thing is being withheld from the public and the only thing that we have to base anything off of is the Wikileaks publication of the documents from back in 2013. Who knows what is has morphed into since those docs where released.

The biggest thing we know right now is just how scared they are of letting us know anything about the TPP. They have that shit locked up tighter than Area 51 or the Vatican's basement. This should be taken as a bad sign.

This can explain it better than I ever could. If you're outraged by it and want to fight back, we have /v/TPPrally

And don't forget it gives corporations the right to sue governments in private courts if regulations put in place affect their profits.
