They probably don’t even see the folly in their own comic. Ahhh cognitive dissonance. (I think that’s the right term - I’m no genius)

I'm an active duty officer and i would rather fly missions on the border than the middle East. At least there is a goal at the border and something to protect.

I've kind of wondered all along why we aren't doing this.

Instead of building a wall/structure OR in combination with one, basically put a small guard watch tower every 1/2 mile. We'd need about 4000 of them total. 2 people per booth so we'd need 8000 guards at any given time.

Think of how many Marines and Soldiers we have already on the payroll. Make a border watch duty period part of everyone's training right after boot camp.

The simple existence of these guard booths would deter most people from trying to jump the border.

Did you know Carlos Slim, top shareholder of the NYT, is actually Lebanese? Slim was born on 28 January 1940, in Mexico City, to Julián Slim Haddad (born Khalil Salim Haddad Aglamaz) and Linda Helú Atta, both Maronite Christians from Lebanon.

I didn't.

I actually did enlist for that specific purpose and chose infantry rather than an easier MOS. Our nation was at war, it felt like the right thing to do when I was 18. I don't regret my choice, but I probably would have made a different choice if I knew then what I know now.

My stepson choose infantry too...I advised against that but he did so anyway. Now he agrees.
