I was treated like a sociopath for not having Facebook. Still never used

I never did. I found I already had an account complete with my picture uploaded. My ex decided for me it was necessary but informing me apparently wasn't necessary.

Because at the time it was innocuous as Myspace, to put it into perspective, there was no concept of data harvesting and loss of privacy. I used it briefly and then stopped when I realized that people were taking the time and effort to like and subscribe to COMPANIES just so they can get advertised to. It sounded retarded, so I unplugged ASAP.
This was also an era where Web 2.0 was just starting and most people were not that into tech at the time. As such, these social media sites became the perfect haven for diddling children, since it seemed there was article after article of kids getting raped with no end in sight.
Now a days everyone and everything is connected and there is enough accessibility of information to see how dangerous these sites are.
And not everyone is completely redpilled on the matter so you have many people to this day gleefully subscribing their information and freedom to these platforms.
Smart phones barely existed when it was college students only, so it was more of a secret club for students. Think about it. No email in your pocket. Facebook didn’t exist when you were away from your computer. It was the first real way of us organizing in groups in real time since the party line. Suddenly we could coordinate a dozen people to meet up. This was huge. MSM was completely clueless for years.
