A woman receiving a PhD now has at least three academic career paths available to her:

  1. Actually do science
  2. Get a job in the now substantial industry of running things that encourage women to go into science or provide special favours for women in science
  3. Produce the sort of post-modernist garbage referenced by this article

I suspect that the career paths which don't actually involve the uncertainty of having to produce actual scientific results might be diverting women from science, and possibly even changing the way women approach PhD studies - if you are studying for a PhD it probably matters whether you actually expect to use what you are learning to find out things, or whether you just need a certificate that says you are a real scientist so you can spend the rest of your life on committees mass-producing reports about all the factors that mean that women don't do science.

good lord, that's a terrible writer. I had to stop reading after a couple of sentences.
