I can only see this as a way to keep people on windows by making it a little easier for GNU devs. Devs get to forgo making a version/package that can install on windows. So for instance GIMP can drop the "windows" version and just do the Linux version. MS gets to eventually make WSL so slow and bad people abandon GNU software for MS software.

Windows Subsystem for Linux. Basically allows you to install a Linux distro inside of Windows as a virtual machine.

Part of Microsoft's "Embrace, Extend, Extinguish" playbook no doubt.

Thanks for the info. So, functionally a WINE flip-flop. That sounds useless for anything except establishing a beachhead.

I'll get real worried if they buy out Poettering's contract.
